The child will learn the modes of narrative writing:First person view, Second person view, third person view. The topic would be grade specific. Emphasis would be given on 6-Trait Writing Prompt

Examples: Write a story based on the following: My first memory I would like to visit It was your birthday yesterday. Narrate how you spent the day. Imagine your become invisible for one day.

Descriptive Writing Workshop

Good descriptive writing includes many vivid sensory details that paint a picture and appeals to all of the reader's senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste when appropriate. Descriptive writing may also paint pictures of the feelings the person, place or thing invokes in the writer. Student will also learn to make use of figurative language and good adjectives and verb. Passive verb will be ignored

Figurative Language workshop

Writing can be appealing to the imagination.

Figurative language provides new ways of looking at the world. It always makes use of a comparison between different things. Figurative language compares two things that are different in enough ways so that their similarities, when pointed out, are interesting, unique and/or surprising by using simile, metaphor, idioms, alliteration and hyperbole in their writing.

Critical Writing workshop

Critical Writing "Getting Them to Think" Critical and creative thinking are valuable skills that do not always find a place in the standard curriculum. Teachers in this workshop will sample a variety of visual and text based exercises they can use to help students think imaginatively and evaluate information in a systematic and logical manner both in and out of the classroom. Topics will include analyzing media and advertising, interpreting metaphor and figurative language and learning to interpret the world they live in. Also, this workshop will students to think about a topic from multiple perspectives (describe, compare/contrast, associate, analyze, apply, and argue for/against). This strategy increases students' fluency on a topic and helps them learn the cognitive clues that are often used in essay questions.
